How to Handle Panic and Anxiety Attacks
Posted by anxiouswill in Prescription Anxiety Drugs on May 27th, 2009
There are a few things to think about when handling panic and anxiety attacks, these guidelines will hopefully help you.
1 Take a deep breath and use the 7/11 method that I have mentioned before in another article. Breathe in through the nose and count to 7 and out through the mouth and count to 11. This will really help.
2 Try and clear your mind, stop all thoughts and fears.
3 Start talking to you, start telling yourself, “I am a strong confident person, I can handle this, I am smarter than this, and I know this is just the adrenaline rushing around my body it will not do me any harm”
4 Remind yourself you are not going to have a heart attack you are only having an anxiety, panic attack it will pass soon. You are not going crazy!
5 Slow down, stop, breathe, and concentrate you will get over this attack.
6 Don’t fight it; just let it be carried out of your body imagine it’s like a wave in the ocean. That wave builds and builds and when it gets to the Shaw it just simply melts away into the sand.
7 Just say to yourself “I am going to have an attack right now and that’s okay”. It will stop just don’t try to fight it.
8 And lastly just remember having panic attacks doesn’t make you a crazy person, it’s not something to be ashamed of. You are normal. A lot of people have anxiety and panic attacks, but they just don’t talk about it.
