How to Handle Panic and Anxiety Attacks

There are a few things to think about when handling panic and anxiety attacks, these guidelines will hopefully help you.

Take a deep breath and use the 7/11 method that I have mentioned before in another article. Breathe in through the nose and count to 7 and out through the mouth and count to 11. This will really help.

Try and clear your mind, stop all thoughts and fears.

Start talking to you, start telling yourself, “I am a strong confident person, I can handle this, I am smarter than this, and I know this is just the adrenaline rushing around my body it will not do me any harm”

Remind yourself you are not going to have a heart attack you are only having an anxiety, panic attack it will pass soon. You are not going crazy!

Slow down, stop, breathe, and concentrate you will get over this attack.

Don’t fight it; just let it be carried out of your body imagine it’s like a wave in the ocean. That wave builds and builds and when it gets to the Shaw it just simply melts away into the sand.

Just say to yourself “I am going to have an attack right now and that’s okay”. It will stop just don’t try to fight it.

And lastly just remember having panic attacks doesn’t make you a crazy person, it’s not something to be ashamed of. You are normal. A lot of people have anxiety and panic attacks, but they just don’t talk about it.
