Are you an anxious person? Do you worry about things that would not really bother the average person? I know how that feels, because I did the same thing for years in my life. My thought process was one worried thought after another all day.

I’m glad to say that today things are different for me. I still worry a bit but it doesn’t run my life like it used to. I am worry free most of the time I’m glad to say. If you would like to break free from the worry trap and get some peace back into your life check out some of the ideas below and see if you can work with them in learning how to stop anxiety.

1) Welcome your anxiety

When we fight anything in life all we do it’s magnify its presence in our lives. If you’re suffering with an anxiety problem at the moment the chances are that you are to some degree increasing its power over you by resisting it. Next time a worried thought and feeling come try letting it be and seeing what happens to it. It will initially increase and then it will subside again.

2) See your anxiety as a little child

Close your eyes for a second a picture your anxiety as a little child looking for your attention. What does it want? Have a talk with it inside your head while you are relaxing and ask it what it wants. Little children usually want attention and this maybe all that your anxiety wants too.

3) Set you intention to be well again

Believe it or not your natural state is not full of anxiety. You true nature is to be calm and peaceful as you move through life. If being calm and peaceful is what you want try setting your goal or intention to be this way and ask your subconscious o help you achieve this goal. If this is what you truly want it’s only a matter of time before it arrives into your life.

How to Cope With Anxiety Today

If you’re currently suffering with anxiety, my heart goes out to you.

I suffered for many years with the same problem and would spend my days with my body and mind reeling with obsessive thoughts and feelings of panic running through my body.

If you feel overwhelmed at the moment by fear and anxiety I have outlined some points below that can help you along with your process. These are things that you can take on board on a day to day basis to help you cope with what’s happening.

1) Its hard but harmless

When I was suffering with chronic anxiety and panic I would regularly think that I was going to die or have a heart attack at least two or three times a day. The truth of it is though, that although it is hard, anxiety and panic have never killed anyone. You are allot tougher than you think, and your body and mind can cope with what is happening to you.

2) Get some distance from your anxiety

When I was suffering it helped me to get some kind of distance from my anxiety. I started this process by starting to observe what was going on in my body. I started to observe the sensations and the thoughts as best I could. By the simple act of noticing you can begin to get a sense of who you are, and how you differ from your anxiety. In other words, you are not your anxiety.

3) Never give up

This is a really important part of what I have to say. Realise that you can and will recovery from your fear and anxiety, no matter how long you have been suffering. All you have to do is make up your mind that you are going to be peaceful and ask your mind to help you achieve this end.

Anxiety comes from many different aspects… Alcoholism, Depression, Grief and Stress etc. Whatever the cause your mind is invaded by worrying and frightening thoughts. In order to control these thoughts, you first need to understand why they affect your lives so much. So how do you stop the intrusive thoughts that cause Anxiety and Panic Attack.

Understanding that it is not the the intrusive thoughts that are responsible for your despair is the one of the steps in overcoming Anxiety and panic attacks. It’s the way you react to the thoughts that causes your mind and body to go into panic mode. Anyone who suffers from Anxiety and Panic Attacks know only to well how frightening that panic mode can be. I found it terrifying when I had a panic attack when I was out of the house, but found it extremely distressing when I found I wasn’t even safe at home.

My home was my safe place and when I found out the anxiety intruder could invade my home..it left me felling pretty helpless. It’s amazing how these intrusive thoughts can turn your life upside down and badly affect the wiring in your brain. I like to to compare the worrying thoughts the self esteem. Just like some people find it hard to except the positive words spoken to them, yet have no problems believing the negative things that people say to them.

It works very much the same with your thoughts, when you have negative or worrying thoughts, you tend to concentrate on them and not the positive and happy thoughts… and then so it goes… off into panic mode. The symptoms as frightening as they are can be controlled, it’s just a matter of understanding your anxiety disorder and learning some coping skills to help you over come the fear that Anxiety brings on.

Learning to control our thoughts is another step towards beating Anxiety and Panic attacks. In my case I learned that these attacks couldn’t hurt me, that was the hard part. I then learned that if I faced my thoughts and the things that made me anxious, I could take control again and not be crippled by my Anxiety Disorder. Anxiety can be overcome, sometimes in a very short time, for some people it might be a longer process but it’s one you can overcome with a little help.
