Panic attacks can be horrifying. In the case of anxiety and panic attacks for instance, where the person is living in almost constant fear and often unable to leave their own home because they are so worried, medication can be a lifesaver. Fortunately there are some great treatments that are available to stop panic attacks but before you can take this step forward, you need to understand what it is that is actually causing your attacks in the first place. Anxiety is the number one cause of such attacks.
There are some very important facts on anxiety attacks that you should be aware of, whether you are the one dealing with them or you have a loved one who is going through this. There are the beta blockers for one, which are most often prescribed for people who have been suffering from such attacks as a result of social anxiety disorder. What this basically means is that these people have their anxiety disorder attacks mainly as a result of being put into social situations. They will have such attacks when they go to the grocery store or out to dinner at a busy restaurant but likely do not have the problem when they are just home alone or hanging out with people that they are close to.
Anxiety and panic attacks definitely have a relationship. This includes blushing, sweating, shaking and lightheadedness. There are other medications that work well to stop panic attacks and that includes antidepressants. Tricyclic antidepressants are used to treat severe depression attacks associated with anxiety and they do work well but you can expect certain side effects as a result of taking these drugs.
Side effects can be mild but could possibly include anything from dry mouth and weight gain to disturbed sleep patterns and irritation. It can be hard to find a medication to which does not come with potential side effects but if you work with your doctor you should be able to find something that works well for you. You don’t have to put up with such problems forever and there are ways to get help. Just make sure that you are dealing with things properly and not relying on bad habits such as drinking or drugs in order to deal with your problems because these sorts of activities are just going to make your problems that much worse.
