A Modern Condition

Anxiety and it’s partner, panic attacks, are seen as a modern condition because many of the modern lifestyle choices that we make everyday are contributing to the sky rocketing amount of anxiety condition cases.

Things like completely sedentary jobs, long hours at a computer, lack of sunlight, lack of fresh air, isolation, poor diet, too much caffeine, too much alcohol, etc, lead to anxiety conditions and panic attacks.

We don’t realize that their anxiety problems stem from not getting any exercise, not taking time to relax, and perhaps drinking too much coffee. But once we realize this then we can begin the healing process fast.

Understanding The Cause

In order to truly beat anxiety and panic attacks we have to know the real cause of them. The real cause of anxiety and panic is a nervous system which has been in a sympathetic dominant state for too long. We’re out of balance.

We must learn to get back into a nice balance between calmness and alertness. And we can do this by combating a lot of the situation which I mentioned in the beginning of this article. This nice thing about these strategies is that they are simple, effective, and anyone can use them. And, they work fast.

Changing Diet

We’ve got to eliminate or reduce: coffee, hard alcohol, white flour, refined sugar, and all junk foods. Instead we need to place great importance on getting enough protein, water, and alkaline minerals.

Alkaline minerals are contained in fruits and vegetables. Good protein sources include meat, eggs, dairy, legumes, and nuts. Be sure that your water is purified and drink at least 10 glasses per day. Anxiety loves dehydration.

Exercise & Other Therapies

Learning to exercise regularly can burn anxiety right out of our bodily systems. I recommend walking or jogging for at least 30 minutes, 3 -4 times per week. This works especially well.

Things like yoga, meditation, tai chi, massage, hot/cold alternating showers, deep breathing, and progressive relaxation all work wonders on our frayed nerves. Pick a couple methods and stick with it for good.

Sleep

Nothing can heal the body or the nerves like sleep can. Most people require 7 - 8 hours a night. But, more importantly it has to be deep sleep.

Deep sleep can be attained by having the room be very quiet and dark. Also, taking herbs like chamomile and valerian is great. Go to sleep and wake up at the same times each day.
