Bound by Anxiety and Depression? How to Find a Cure For Anxiety Depression
Posted by anxiouswill in Prescription Anxiety Drugs on July 04th, 2010
Anxiety can play a big part in our lives. Equally, depression can work hand in hand with anxiety, causing a person to have multiple symptoms such as panic attacks, fear, dread and phobias that can majorly affect a person’s life to the point of not being able to function normally.
What it Takes to Cure Anxiety Depression
Getting a better understand of what anxiety is as well as depression and how the two can play a part in your life is the first step in gaining control of the situation and getting cured for good. Often times your primary care doctor will assess your situation and will treat you with a good anti-depressant or a panic attack medication or may even prescribe therapy to help you work through your phobias.
Anxiety can present itself in a number of ways. One might feel extreme fear or dread even in the calmest of situations that can come on instantaneously. Another symptom is emotional distress. One can feel fine one minute and then lose control the next without any warning. Also, if you have anxiety that has been brought on by a traumatic event, such as being stuck in an elevator or being knocked down by a huge wave in the ocean can cause you to avoid these situations, leaving you feeling plagued and restricted in your life. Getting stuck in an elevator as a small child, I never took the elevator and when my father-in-law had a heart attack, I climbed 9 flights of stairs to get to his room because of my phobia of elevators. It was something I had to conquer and I did it with the help of medication and making myself go back into elevators again.
How Depression and Anxiety Play Together
Depression can also affect daily living. People can often experience a lack of energy, sadness, and trouble sleeping amongst other symptoms. Anxiety can also be a symptom of depression causing all of the symptoms above plus the panic feelings, phobias and so forth. Depression is treatable although there are many people who do not seek treatment and try to work their disorders out themselves.
It is important to know what anxiety and depression is and how they can work together. There are cures for both and are treatable with medicine, therapy and counseling. Medication alone can get your symptoms under control and counseling can help to rid you of your symptoms permanently. These symptoms should not be ignored and it is important to seek help for them.
