Can Anxiety Lead to You Being Home Bound?
Posted by anxiouswill in Prescription Anxiety Drugs on July 20th, 2010
Some people wonder if anxiety can get so bad that you end up being home-bound, which is where you can’t leave your house. I would say there is definitely a possibility for that because they’re quite a few people that never leave their home. Because they’re scared to death about what might happen to them!
There are tons of phobias out there that have fancy names, of which I’m not mentioning that describe the above type of condition I mentioned above. But, I don’t think it’s any one thing, I think it’s a combination of things.
Because were all born into this world without a care in the world. And we don’t have any bills to pay and don’t have anything to worry about at the moment we are born. So over the years, we of course develop our own idiosyncrasies, and our little habits and patterns of the way we do things throughout our life.
When you add all that up, what you’ve done in your past can lead to issues such as anxiety. Now anxiety left untreated, could very easily grow into obsessive compulsive disorder, and maybe you are washing your hands all the time (like many people with OCD do), because you’re paranoid about what germs are on your hands. A condition like that might lead to you being home-bound, because there are germs out there and everywhere else.
And if you go outside you will have to deal with those germs as well. So can anxiety lead to you being home-bound? I would say definitely, but only in extreme cases. That is my honest opinion.

Anxiety is one of those things that is so common yet can cause a lot of disruption to your life. In this article, I highlight some of the natural approaches you can take to help cure your anxiety and lead a normal, happy life.
Walking is great because it is a natural stress reliever. It calms the mind, integrates the left and right sides of the brain, and also lowers your blood pressure. Try to walk whenever you can. At work, use the stairs rather than the elevator. If you need to go to the shops to buy something, walk instead of using the car. Take every opportunity you can to walk.
Another great technique to de-stress is to simply become aware of your breathing. You do not need to control your breathing, just gently be aware of it. You can either, stop what you are doing and sit quietly to focus on your breathing, or you can become aware of your breathing when you are doing something else. This will not distract you from what you are doing; it will just calm your thoughts but make you more alert at the same time.
Also, if you are feeling anxious about things either in the past or in the future, try writing about them. Writing has been shown to be great for calming the mind. When you write, you put your thoughts into words and this helps you gain some perspective on them. Writing about your problems can be as therapeutic as talking to someone. It feels like a weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
