Afraid of Anxiety Attacks? Learn to Break the Cycle of Fear

Panic attacks generally have pretty obscure symptoms, ranging from breathing difficulty to fear of death. Regardless of the severity of your attacks, I am pretty sure that you will find them to be pretty scary experiences. The trauma of having experienced panic attacks will install a fear in you, which is likely to trigger more, sudden attacks. Panic attacks are self-fulfilling prophecies.
It’s Possible, But It Won’t Be Easy
I hate to break it to you but there is no easy solution to overcome panic attacks. If you’ve ever had a panic attack, it doesn’t mean to say that you have some form of unpreventable condition. You still have control over your thought processes but it is up to you, and only you, to decide if you wish to control them effectively.
No medication will stop panic attacks. You can learn how not to be afraid of them and to stop them from ruling your life. By doing so, you are partially eliminating the reason for you to have panic attacks. You can also learn more about the symptoms of panic attacks, how they get a chance to occur and more importantly, how to prevent them.
Defeat Anxiousness
The best way to defeat anxiousness, a state of worry and nervousness, is pretty simple. Relax. Don’t look for negatives, but if you can’t help yourself, at least find a way to turn negatives into positives. You ultimately have control over what you want to do. If someone is pressuring you into something that you do not want to do, tell them so. Don’t put yourself in situations that could trigger panic.
Learn to be organized. Use some of that holiday leave that you have been building up, take a break. Keep yourself occupied, do something new. Have these symptoms become part of your personality? How will people look at you if you manage to control these symptoms? I can safely say that all of this will have a positive effect that you will thank yourself for.
The Most Important Bit
Congratulate yourself if you manage to use this information to control what could have been an anxiety attack to a state of calmness. Take notion of this moment. When you feel another attack coming on, turn back to this memory. If you’ve done it once, you can without question, do it again. As you overcome more anxiety attacks, you will gain confidence that you can control them. It is this that will help you stop them.

Many of us lead pretty much stressful lives, so much so that anxiety has become a huge problem. We rake up huge sums in treating our anxiety levels with drugs and spend countless nights, suffering from bouts of insomnia. Positive thinking can help overcome the constant thoughts of worry that goes on in our heads. While the positive thinking method does not work for everyone in completely eliminating anxiety, the other helpful aspects make it well worth the effort to try.
One of the biggest issues many people have that directly relates to anxiety is self-esteem. When you are engaged in negative self beliefs, you think that you are not good or worthy enough. This can cause anxiety in those situations. Just imagine if the converse is true. You are positive and have confidence in your abilities. You see problems as challenges to overcome, rather than difficulties that you are already defeated over. Constantly reinforcing your own self worth will help you eliminate many anxiety issues in your life.
You can defeat anxiety by building your self esteem through different techniques of positive thinking. Surrounding yourself with positive friends is one of the best ways to improve your own self-esteem. Their positive energies and enthusiasm can rub off on you eventually.
If you suffer from low self esteem, then spend some time making a list of what you like about yourself and what you are good at. If you have problems writing this list, get a close friend to help you with it. Recording this list reaffirms the positive feelings that you have about yourself.
One of the biggest contributors to anxiety is stress. However, more often than not, stress is self-induced. You may blame it on the environment but if you cannot control an external factor. What you can do is to change your attitude towards how you handle stress. Positive thinking allows you to lower your stress levels, so that you become less anxious. It is up to you to take charge of how you feel. With positive thinking, you can improve many aspects of your life and be a much happier person. Arrest your anxiety levels and do not allow them to escalate. Learn to let go, if you have done your very best, in dealing with your problems at hand. Then, use your mind to think positively, for good outcomes.

Whats causing your anxiety? Whats making you stressed out? Whats making you feel tense? Identify the cause or causes of your anxiety. Target the problem. Family problem, work related stress, health issue? Do you feel lonesome and isolated in your home? Once you’ve discovered what is responsible for your anxiety you can start to deal with it logically. Break the problem down into little steps and take practical steps to avoid it or deal with it. That is, address it directly, be logical, not fearful or paranoid, try and be balanced, honest and objective. Easier said than done however. Don’t dwell and fret about the unknown or “what ifs”; its easy to exaggerate these thoughts and become fearful about them. It won’t benefit you to dwell on them, it will only make it harder to see the problem objectively. 96% of the time worries and fears are imagined, they never happen.
Let it out first, everything. It is not the worry over which your anxious that is the problem, the problem is that over the course of time you have trained your brain to worry! Now its getting stuck on that setting. The solution is to break your worry habit once and for all. Start by getting your worries out of your system. And even begin to let them go. Its most likely they would have been over-exaggerated by now anyway.
This process could make you depressed if you are only listing negative stuff down; so after you get all the negative stuff out of your system begin to think positively and write down all the good things that are happening in your life now, anything that you can think of. Be positive! Also, think about or write down everything positive you can think of about the situation causing your anxiety and stress, in your diary or anxiety journal. Also, make a list of any good opportunities or good ideas, or fun things that you can do, or anything worthwhile you’d like to do, anything that you can think of. If you don’t do this self-help stuff now I’m afraid, anxiety can become a major problem, and it can ruin your quality of life, making life almost unbearable and hard to live. This can even lead to depression and other problems. Don’t let it get that far, take these simple steps now to cure yourself of panic and anxiety today.
